Decorating for the holidays is something that so many look forward to at this time of year. No matter what holiday you celebrate, storing your decorations for an entire year can be difficult if you are short on storage space. The good news is there are a few simple ways to decorate that take up little-to-no storage when they are in non-use.
Select a picture frame that is large. We chose 8×10, so it is large enough to display a large enough piece of artwork to make a statement when put out.
There are so many options for free printable seasonal artwork. Every season that you decorate for, update the artwork. Simply store the not-in-use artwork in the back of the frame for the following year.
The picture “clothesline” has become a very popular project in blogging venues. For some easy instructions on how to build your own “clothesline,” visit http://ana-white.com/2012/10/plans/clothesline-frame-book-tour. Not interested in building a frame? Find a cheap, large frame at a local thrift store or bargain store and take out the glass. Secure the twin to the back of the frame and you are all set to go!
The great part about this is that you can so easily change out the art or pictures you are displaying. Collages or groupings work well. Seasonal artwork, such as these vintage postcards for “non-season” can easily be switched out for vintage Christmas sheet music. We used sheet music from our friends on Pinterest, and then edited them for a unified look. A free download of this set of music can be found at the bottom of the page!
Although Florida has a longer growing season than most, December isn’t the greatest month for growing tomatoes. So, put those tomato cages to good use!
You can purchase green cages from the store, or like we did, spray paint them green. Flip the cage upside down, wrap them in green-thredded lights, and voila! An instant, cheap, light fixture for outside.
Decorating for the holidays is easy, and with these simple tips, won’t leave your home bulging at the seams storing your extra items!
